Welcome to the official website for Oink, Derby's very own water buffalo.

It was set up on behalf of Katherine Moore, Oink's keeper and loyal friend.
Oink is a 15 year old water buffalo and is a bit of a celebrity in Derby / Derbyshire.

This website has been set up to celebrate our own water buffalo in Derby, and ask for help from the public and local businesses.
We are looking at ways of protecting Oink, by means of remote CCTV and improving the field and fences in which Oink lives
We are appealing to anybody who can help in the following ways:-

* provide information on who could be attacking this poor defenceless animal.
* help in the field - moving hardcore / bricks, fixing fences etc.
* donate money to pay for new fences, holding pen and CCTV system.
* provide any photos / videos / stories / comments about Oink to feature on the website.

We need your help!!!

REPORT

We appeal to anyone who has information regarding cowardly attacks on this water buffalo to come forward and call police on 0845 123 3333.

Anyone who witnesses anyone hurting Oink, or can help in any way can also call Mrs Moore on 07518 785178.

“I’m a resident of Darley Abbey and have two young children who get great pleasure from us visiting Oink with some fruit and veg. We were deeply saddened to hear of the mindless attacks on Oink and hope that he has not suffered too much from these.” - Colin, Darley Abbey

“Its totally unacceptable that these horrible teenagers are treating Oink in this way - I saw the article on Central News last night and it made me very sad. I hope these mindless morons are caught and punished accordingly. On a positive side it’s nice that Oink is receiving the media attention hopefully this will deter the idiots from trying to hurt him. Big Hug for Oink..!!”
- Suzanne, Ripley

“Hi there, just read the article on the BBC news website...appalling... Best of luck to you and Oink”
- Martyn, Florida

“Dear Katherine and Oink, I read the story on the BBC today and feel so sorry for poor Oink...I am terribly angry and upset about these mindless attacks on Oink and I hope your CCTV and all this publicity will help to protect him. Best of luck to you and Oink.”
- Liz, Kent

“I read your story on the BBC website and feel really angry about the situation. Poor oink.”
- Rachel

“We want an Oink webcam! :o”
- Catherine

“Its just completely beyond us how anybody could even contemplate hurting Oink ?? The most baffling thing is it must be pre-meditated for somebody to bring along the washing up liquid ?? Lets hope those responsible are caught and the punishment fits the crime so we can all enjoy throwing bricks at them to see how they like it!! please get behind us, we’ll be at the front of the Queue !!!”
- Simon

“What a beautiful animal. This is such a wonderful ending for this beautiful creature. How mean can people be eh?? I just don't understand!! Bless this creature and his friends who help him. Wonderful stuff.”
- Kat

“I'm with Simon and the brick treatment as a punishment- these people never see the light, they only feel the heat ”
- Helen

“We watched the GMTV report on Oink this morning, and were shocked and saddened that anyone could be so cruel to such a beautiful animal! Best of luck with the campaign to protect the wonderful Oink, we will visit him when we are in the area, with food, of course!”
- Adrianna & Family

“I heard about Oink today on GMTV and I was reduced to tears...seeing this gentle animal and then contrasting this with the mindless way he has been treated was just horrible. I don't live locally (otherwise I'd pop by with some treats)...but I'm hoping someone local can give him a nice pat & a tickle on my behalf!! :) ”
- Tzigane

“I heard about poor Oink on msn news, so i had a look and i cant believe how cruel people can be, its a harmless animal and i hope people like the vandals get rammed by his horns! Stay safe Oink :o) xx”
- Leslie

“I have just read oinks story and I was really touched. I live in the south (oxford) and I really want to do something to do to help as well as donating. Please advise me accordingly – I’ll do anything!!!! Keep up the great work and keep up the media!!!”
- Emily

“Poor Oink! I hope he's left alone in peace now. What's wrong with kids doing such vile things?”
- Brendan

“I WAS SO UPSET TO SEE THE STORY ABOUT OINK IN THE NEWS. WHAT A LOVELY ANIMAL HE IS, AND IS WORTH 100 OF THESE MINDLESS THUGS WHO HAVE DONE THIS TO HIM. I THINK HE IS GOING TO BE SO POPULAR NOW AND ENOUGH MONEY WILL BE RAISED TO GIVE HIM THE CALM QUIET LIFE HE DESERVES. GOOD LUCK OINK, YOU'VE GOT MORE FANS THAN ENEMIES.”
- Anne

“I've just read the Guardian article. Once I'd seen Oink's picture, I couldn't understand how anyone could be nasty to him - he's like a hug on legs! Let's hope he gets over his understandable) shyness, and goes back to romping through his field again soon - lovely chap! :o)”
- Beckie

“Its overwhelming to see all the comments & donations from people as far away as america, keep it up everyone, we love you OINK !!! For the little idiots that did this remember what goes around comes around & I hope you get whats coming to you !!!!”
- Vicky

“big hugs from fans in copenhagen. oink is a star!”
- Sita

“Cannot believe such moronic behaviour!! These subspecies should be strung up and made to drink washing up liquid!”
- Anne

“I have just read the article on BBC news and I can't believe what people are doing to this poor animal. I own a website called theanimalfiles.com and I have added a link to the BBC story and Oink's website to try and get you some more publicity. Best of luck.”
- Liza

“Disgusted to hear of the treatment the poor animal has been subjected too. Very glad to hear he is now being protected.”
- Claire

“I was at a run on Friday night at the Rugby Club and we went to see Oink and he wasnt there. We know why now!! We think Oink is lovely and were really disappointed that he wasnt there for us to see and cheer us on in his own way. Lets hope that the fact that they will be seen and can be identified will stop these mindless thugs from hurting him any more.”
- Sara

“I also read about Oink's plight in the Guardian and I have to say that it's truly heartening to see so many people giving support to him. Hopefully some pictures will soon be posted on the website (or better still the webcam as someone else has suggested). However I would like to point out to the two folk who seem to feel that it is 'horrible teenagers' or just 'kids' that in fact - unless I missed something here - no suspects have yet been identified (although I certainly hope they are): in other words, it may not be children or young adults who are responsible at all, it could be an OAP for all you know. Not all sub-20 year olds are hoodie wearing monsters intent on evil and it's a shame so many people in society think they are. Put your copies of the Daily Mail away!”
- Mark

“popt over from work ,oink not looking to bad, just done a few pics and slide show on my 360,do say hi if you visit.if anybody can come up with a design for a fence/pen/enclosure.please let us know as with owners permission am sure can come up with the galv steel etc and the labour work etc.tc all, just thought say hes getting friends again.”
- John

“I have been visiting Oinkie since I was little and was really sad to read about this is the paper :-( I'm glad to see that he has so much support now! ”
- Charlie

“Dear Oink, I hadn't heard of you until today but I asked a friend of mine who lives in Darley Abbey to tell me all about you, and you sound wonderful. I have just visited your website and have donated some money for new fencing for your field, so that you can remain safe and loved. I hope nobody is cruel to you again. With love”
- Clare

“So I'm glad to read that Oink has friends flocking to his aid. I especially love to think of the children who've become so fond of him.”
- Christine

“I read about the disgusting attacks on Oink in the Daily Mail. What kind of twisted psychopath derives pleasure from victimising a defenceless animal? If anyone is needed to keep a vigil I'd certainly be willing as I live in Derbyshire. Whoever is doing this needs to be stopped, I'd happily shoot them!”
- Wendy

“Having read about Oink in the Derby Evening Telegraph last week, I thought I was being a big softy at how upset I felt about what Oink had suffered. ”
- Louisa

“After seeing and hearing Oink's story on GMTV i was appauled that someone / people have carried out these cowardly attacks on this defenceless animal. It was the throwing of bricks that was the icing on the cake. I propose that a separate fund be created to provide a reward to the person that is, at the very least, able to faciliate the public naming and shaming of Oink's attackers which will hopefully lead to suitable accountability of their actions.”
- Stephen

“Just seen the video on Yahoo's main page. Good luck to Oink & I hope the yobs are caught! :o)”
- Daniel

“I agree with Mark. Perhaps it wasn't kids/teenagers who were responsible, but this is the manner in which it has been reported in the press. So, I'd like to replace the word 'kids' in my previous post with 'people'”
- Ian

“I've visited Oink a couple of times - took him carrots & apples - he apprciated that! I took my mum to see him too; she's nearly blind and walks with a stick, but I had her climbing over the fence to Oink's field so that she could meet him. He really is a gentle giant! I wish these kids who hurt him could appreciate the experiences that are of real value - maybe they would then realise that love and respect for animals (and people) is the the surest way to a happier life.”
- Ian

“I was utterly sickened by the news item concerning the depraved cowardly acts carried out by feral yobs against Oink. It's beyond my comprehension how anyone can derive pleasure or satisfaction from deliberately harming any living creature. The people responsible for these acts, as far as I am concerned are not fit to share the planet with Oink. It is heartening though to see that so many other civilised humans care enough to help this poor animal in his plight, and I wish him a long and happy life that he richly deserves. ”
- Pauline

“Its great to hear that Oink is being looked after and so sad that mindless people could be so cruel. We moved from Darley Abbey July 2005 to live in Australia. Before we left we would visit Oink during our weekend walks or Bike rides around Darley Park. Oink would always race over to say 'Hi' in his wet nose fashion and have a look in the bag to see what vegetables we had for him to munch on. He is very missed by the Fox family and its so nice to be able to check his wellbeing on the website, it sounds as if he is a regular TV star!!”
- The Fox Family

“I am so appaled at what i have just read, i just cant believe my eyes, can anyone really be this horrible??? This is absoloutly disgusting....it makes me feel sick to the stomach and so angry inside. My family are big animal lovers, my dad used to work on a farm, and my mum always has dogs from local rescue homes. So to read that someone could even think about doing such a thing makes me so angry. Surely there has got to be something for the kids to do in Derby other than terrorise poor Oink???This makes no sence at all, im totally disgusted. Im going to make the effort to stop by and see oink, my 18month old son will love him. If the cowardly bullies are reading this now.... Then...BE WARNED...WE WILL FIND OUT WHO YOU ARE. STAY AWAY FROM OINK. YOU ARE COWARDS. YOU WILL GET WHATS COMING TO YOU ONE DAY WHEN YOU LEAST EXPECT IT, AND YOU\'LL BE SORRY YOU EVER STEPPED FOOT IN OINKS FIELD!!!!”
- Bex

“Hello! I just noticed a short video article about Oink on the Yahoo website, and almost cried when I heard how he'd been treated - how can people (even kids) be so evil? I really hope Oink feeling better, and that the abuse has stopped since the press drew attention to it. I sent a small donation toward his fencing fund, and wish you all the best. Oink is beautiful isn't he?! Cheers”
- Eve

“Hi, I have lived in Derby for nearly 18 years now and found Oink when out walking as a student. I go and see him when I can and always take any family or visitors to see him. My Uncle took a fantastic picture of him where I am reflectd in one of his eyes, it is an amazing photo and I will try and get a copy of it to you. Love to Oink”
- Clare

“News of this cowardly attack on Oink by a group boggan yobs has reached Australia as station 3AW”
- Roger

“Sincerely hope all will be well for this beautiful animal. How on earth anyone can be so cruel is completely beyond me. Hope to read eventually that he is happy and contented with his new surroundings. Best wishes to all who love him and care so much.”
- Audrey

“Hi, I own two water buffalo (I come from the UK but live in Northern Thailand), & cannot imagine anyone hurting these lovely creatures. My buffs (Nelson & Thidwick), are as docile as babies & my 3 kids (& I), get hours of enjoyment from them. Hope you guys over in Derbyshire sort this problem out - good luck & best wishes from Chiang Mai”
- Sarah

“Was just thinking, as well as new fence etc, maybe Oink would be happy with some company as cattle live in herds, plus if there was another bullock in there it might deter people entering his pen. Just a thought anyway!”
- Wendy

“Have been following the info on Oink over the past few days. Was wondering why Oink lives on his own in a field? Has he ever had a 'friend' companion in the past?”
- Sandy

“I've just read the article- its sick to think what people get a kick out of nowadays. Perhaps a lady buffalo would cheer him up! ”
- Kathy

“Wow!! It's fantastic to see Oink's fund raising like it is - you guys are awesome!!”
- Jennifer

“Seeing the generous response of people to Oink's plight restored my faith in people. It's just a pity think that there are young cowards out there who don't have anything better to do with their lives than torment a defenceless creature. Here's wishing Oink a happy and peaceful life.”
- Richard

“Like many others I felt so sad that a wonderful animal like oink could be treated so badly by members of the human race (but not suprising really) and it really leaves me speechless. I hope though something good has come of this because I am sure Oink has plenty of friends now to take care of him and I look forward to keeping up with things on the website. I will be sending a little something soon to go towards his care..”
- Sylvia

“Best of luck with the fundraising! You'll be getting my donation on the 20th. Let's hope Oink is ok, and shame on those bullies. Mindless thugs.”
- Laura

“...a symbol of goodness in a world - and country - where many have lost their moral compass. I think this webcam is a wonderful idea and hope that it achieves all it has set out to do, mainly promote this wonderful animal and bring to justice those intent on doing him harm.”
- Simon

“It's terrible what those people were doing to Oink. I saw it on the news and it made me feel sick. Hopefully, however, the media attention will deter any more attacks. Hugs and kisses to Oink!”
- Catherine

“i've just found out about oink, through my homepage on Yahoo, which i check every morning. well, he has immediately set up residence in my affections, i'm a sucker for animals, especially ones who are unfairly targeted by strangers. i've donated some money...this email was really to ask you to give oink a kiss for me. if i was anywhere near derby, i'd come and kiss him myself! all the best with your campaign,”
- Jenny

“I just cannot belive someone would do this. It's horrible. The thugs are just cowards, they wont show up if someones there. I\'ve never seen oink but he sounds amazingly wonderful. Hugs to oink!”
- Sam

“I just can't believe anyone would do this. What is wrong with people today? He seems such a lovely animal. I live in Norfolk but the next time I go to Derby I'm going to make sure I go and visit him. Oink, i'm bringing you a fruit scone!”
- Natasha

“I was listening to a late night radio talking station last night when I heard the story of oink. I hope oink will be alright and whoever is terrorizing him will be caught. I really felt bad for him and the thought of how frightened he would of been considering he gets on so well with humans normally. I think the person or people doing these terrible things to oink should be given the same mistreatment when they are caught.”
- Julie in Australia

“Oink is a cutie. He is soo sweet. keep Oink happy. Mustard and crap in his food? Stupid bullies. I hope you guys catch them and beat them silly. Seriously, make them drink a whole bottle of mustard plain! No mercy...”
- Pri

“I find it so sad that people would throw things at a poor animal :O Imagine making the thing paranoid. I love the name...Oink.,.heh.”
- Robert

“poor oink, what a sad world we live in, when this poor animal, cant have his sanctury, im a big animal lover and it makes me so sad to hear of this happening to such a lovely animal, you people who are doing this, i hope one day you realise that what your doing is so spitefull, i hope you can live with yourself! my thoughts are with you and oink, i hope he can be left in peace from now on.”
- Maria

“We were so angered by the senseless attacks on poor Oink that we wanted to know how to contribute to his protection? We would love it if we had something as wonderful as a water buffalo in a field near us and can't fathom the mentality of people that would hurt him rather than marvel at and celebrate his presence... it's an unfashionable view, but this country would certainly benefit if a significant minority of people was rounded up and quietly erased! Please let us know how he is, when we might be able to view him online and where to send donations... we will also tell our friends.”
- Gatehouse family

“we love you oink, saw you on gmtv, how anyone could hurt you we just don,t know. they are cruel and deserve to be caught and punished. we are positive you will have a new fence a s a p. love you loads will e.mail you again soon take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx”
- EPANDBP

“What a lovely example of water buffalo, He's a star. Never get to see such an amazing animal with living in city center of manchester”
- nige

“Instant Karma is deserved by those who torment this gentle giant! Oink reminds me of Ferdinand the Bull, and I hope that all of the websites will keep us current with him for a long while to come. I am looking forward to sharing him with my students when school resumes in September. I'll be checking in, regularly.”
- Kim

“I saw Oink on GMTV this morning and was so upset to see this beautiful, gentle animal scared to come out of his shelter because of thick and stupid bullies. I bet they would need to hide in a shelter if anybody found out who they were! I hope Oink now has a happy and loving time and I hope the bullies get everything they deserve.”
- Sally

“I completely agree with Mark about how prejudice it is to presume that the people mistreating poor Oink are teenagers. I'm genuinely insulted virtually each and every day how we teenagers are targeted for almost EVERYTHING negative, despite in most cases there being no evidence to state any sort of general age notification against said unruly acts carried out against society. But I do hope that whoever it is doing this to Oink is caught and punished =)”
- Harriette

“'ve just watched the news video of Oink on my laptop. Some poeople really do beggar belief. Who would deliberately hurt such a beautiful animal. I really do wish you all well in looking after Oink. Wondered why he had that name until the end of the video when he made that noise. What a cutie! Best wishes from up here in Glasgow.”
- Cathy

“So sad to read the article about this beautiful animal, dare not put in writing just what I would really like to say. Hope all goes in the future for Oink and all who love him.”
- Audrey

“I saw Oink on GMTV this morning and was appalled by what I heard and have been thinking of him all day, I have just been reading his e-mail site and had tear rolling down my face, what vile people we have in this world. Oink is so, so beautiful I truly cannot understand such cruelty. I live to far to visit and am very upset as I would love to meet him.”
- Susan, Peter & Duke

“I enjoyed taking my children to see Oink when they were younger. Even though they\'re now grown up, they like to go and see him when they are home. I was really upset when I saw the news on GMTV this morning. Hopefully, the show of public love will make the idiots who've scared him think and change. We love Oink.”
- Jane

“I am deeply saddened to hear of Oinks troubles, it is such a shame that such a wonderful animal should have to suffer at the hands of mindless thugs. I do not live in Derbyshire so cannot offer any hands-on help but I was so moved by the story that I have made a donation to your fund I hope it will help, good luck.”
- Martin

“I first heard about oink when i was getting ready for work this morning and GMTV happened to be on in the background. I was so touched by Oink's story, I can't believe anyone could do such cruel, cowardly things to this beautiful, defenceless little creature or any creature in fact. I think this website is fab and hopefully with all the donations being recieved Oink will be able to build a happy life and continue to have lots of people who care for him. Lots of kisses coming Oink's way!xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx ”
- Joanne

“ive just watched the clip about oink and i find the yobs sickening, im against animal cruelty and i think wat they did was appauling. i hope oink is feeling more at home now xx :)”
- Charlie

“what a brilliant thing you are doing - I think that he should have a face book account what a brilliant way to keep us all informed on how he's doing - someone who can post photo's of him - brilliant idea !!! I live in the East - so it's getting round the UK”
- Lauren

“I was teary eyed when i saw Oink's video on Yahoo news.My heart goes out for him.How could they abuse such a sweetie.”
- Lovely

“what you need is a webite like ourchickens.com at least thereis cctv! try throwing brinks at the culprits see how they like it”
- Powell

“I saw Oink on GMTV this morning and have just read through all the articles. All I can see is the most beautiful animal . How can anyone not see the gentleness in Oinks eyes. The thugs that harmed Oink should have the same treatment metted out to them . If I was closer I would visit him but as we are at the other end of the country is that someone local will go and see him on my behalf. I belong to group on yahoo called animalmagic and have posted Oinks story and website on there. Good luck and will be following Oinks progress.”
- Ann

“Hiya. Oink you're a brave boy keep on going good and strong! Your a great example to all water buffalos! It made me sick to see what thugs hade done to such a beautiful creature. I love animals and do not believe in eating meat. Go Oink! xxx”
- Ted

“how could anybody hurt oink as he was doing no harm just in his field munching. We really hope these thugs feel really good about what they are doing and if their family are aware of their cruelty. We are real animal lovers please give oink a big hug from us as we live in suffolk. I hope these thugs get their come uppence but usually punishment don't fit the crime does it”
- the powell family

“Having seen the video on p.c. tonight I am appalled at how he is being treated by these thugs. What the hell are the RSPCA and Police doing about it - thank goodness for kind people looking out for Oink. I wish him well and hope he recovers from the traumas of these out of control yobs who one cannot call animals because animals do not treat their own like these yobs who I wished I could do *********************** things to them in this out of control UK now. Best of luck Oink. Thinking of you”
- Chris

“I heard about what happened to Oink and I think it's disgusting that people in this country have nothing better to do with their lives than hurt an innocent animal. I hope everything in the future goes well for Oink. OINK IS GORGEOUS! xx..”
- Sophie

“I've just read about poor Oink on msn. Bless him! He's been through so much. I really don't understand what gets into the minds of some 'people' to do something so inhumane to an animal. I've seen some photos, he's gorgeous and obviously well looked after and loved. Thank you for this website which I will be adding to my favourites, so please keep everyone updated, as I'm sure we all want to know how he is. Take care Oink, lots of love, hope you recover mentally soon. x”
- Sara

“its just so sad to hear that people would do such a awful thing to his animal who never hurt anyone how would they like it if someone done it to them some people are just evil ”
- danielle

“Its not very good that people have been throwing bricks at oink so im a bit upset by that but i really want to see him. The problem is i live miles away.”
- Joe

“awww we have just heard about oink we love him so much how can anyone be so cruel? how could they set his hay on fire? aww anyway we just wanted to tell you of our feelings and thankyou for helping oink how is he?”
- lovee alex and berta x

“Hello, I am absolutely appalled how anyone can be so evil and cruel to a lovely innocent animal such as Oink. He is adorable. I saw him on GMTV. What a lovely man is that installed the cameras. I hope the scumbags leave him alone now. It might act as a deterrent hopefully. It is wonderful that so many people are helping him. I would like to come and see him. Is he near a train station? I live in London. I would love to get my hands on the vile scumbags hurting him. I have donated on his website to help with building the fence. Please keep me posted with developments. I am very concerned and troubled by the abuse he is suffering and am delighted there are lovely people who are helping him.”
- Wendy and Ken from London

“Just heard about you on the Yahoo homepage.. Hope Oink's recovering ok.”
- Neil

“we hope that Oink is feeling better now, he is sooo sweet”
- Catherine

“How can those people be so cruel to a lone animal and treat him/her in that way, when they are caught it would be tempting to give them some spitefull treatment when they are alone at night from a group of thugs. What pleasure can kids get from doing this? They can't be that bored. Poor Oink.”
- Johanna

“I read about Oink today in the Guardian and had to make a donation immediately. I only wisn I could come up and see him but I'm a bit far away (Bristol). Please give lovely Oink a hug from me - I hope the mindless criminals who did this are caught and punshed soon and that Oink can go back to enjoying a life without fear. He deserves it - what a lovely animal.”
- Rachel

“way to go oink.....how anyone can be cruel to him is beyond me....i came across many water buffalos in india, and i found them to be very inquisitive, and faithfull to their owners! keep safe oink”
- steve from dudley

“I myself am a teenager and think its disgusting the way those yobs treated Oink, I hope he resumes being as happy as he was prior to the mindless violence.”
- Connor

“It is awful that the poor animal cannot even live in peace in its own field!!!!”
- Laura

“I was really distressed to read about poor Oink in the Mail today. I am donating, like may others, but have been heartened to see the response so far. So much cruelty to animals goes undetected and unpunished these days and I hope that the community efforts ensure a peaceful life for this lovely creature. I do hope the famous 'whisperer' is able to restore Oink's confidence as this is a huge thing. I haven't the heart to read all the articles which describe the attacks on him as it doesn't bear thinking about but I pray that the measures in place now will keep him safe for the future. Bless you Oink.”
- Moyra

“Shame on you yobs for hurting this poor defenseless animal, weren't you brought up properly to be a decent human being? Let's keep Oink safe!”
- Jayne

“I was sickened and saddened to see the news report this morning on GMTV. I would like to personally thrown bricks and stones and these yobbos and pour washing up liquid, mustard (and other nasty items!) into their beer and make them drink it whilst we all watched. What pleasure these evil prats get from harming a beautiful friendly creature I dont know... I just pray that he will be ok now ... Failing that Oink, you know how to use your horns surely?!!!!!!!!!! ”
- Brenda

“Figure out who did it and make them drink washing up liquid and throw bricks at them. There's absolutely no excuse for doing that to an innocent animal. Best of luck to you and I hope the CCTV deters the idiots from striking again. ”
- Amanda

“All the best in your campaign to help oink, the real animals are the vicious thugs who have tried to harm him, let's hope they are caught soon”
- Colin

“Hey, I caught the details of Oinks on my MSN news page, just couldn't resist having a look at your website. What a fabulous idea especially after all the horrible things Oinks has been through. I hope all will be well now in Oinks world. Will keep checking in.”
- Gail

“I saw the feature's on Central and BBC East Midlands and it made me VERY,VERY ANGRY indeed. I just don't think i would be able to hold myself back if i saw the SCUM who are doing these awful things to this obviously beautiful, friendly and very trusting creature. Long live 'OINK' and please accept my donation. I hope the culprit's are caught, named, shamed and have their photographs published.”
- Rich

“I am totally disgusted by the actions of these few people and hope that all the press coverage has the effect of making them stop and think about their actions - though I guess you would settle for just the stop bit! We've made a little donation to help in any way you can to keep Oink safe...Please keep the website up to speed and some more piccies would be great.. he just looks sooo adorable!”
- Carole and Denise

“Would you be able to set up a fan group for Oink on Facebook? There is quite a buzz about him at work following this morning’s GMTV and we’d all like to show our support”
- Rachel

“Don't let the bullies get you down, hope you're doing well mate, lots of love from the Isle of Man!”
- Steve

“Great to hear so many people have done something wonderful as a result of a few bad apples - more than happy to offer what little I can :-)”
- Caroline

“Just donated ...to help keep oink safe! Bless him. Wish he was in Brum so I could pay him a visit and say hi. Keep up the good work and keep donating people, let's see oink living the high life! I think we should save up some oink dung and cover the thugs in it if they get caught!”
- Adam

“What dark and depressing times we live in.. how anyone could want to harm such a gentle and defenceless creature is beyond me. I just hope the culprits are feeling extremely guilty for themselves. ”
- Jacob

“I have followed the story of Oink and am over the moon of the help and support he has got...this beautiful animal hopefully at last has got peace and quiet from these low lifes that have caused him so much distress. Its about time the law gave severe punishments for cruelty to animals...My view is that they once found should have their faces published in the papers..banned from keeping animals for LIFE and given a custodial sentence..but onto a lighter note...Oink is great! we love him”
- Penny

“All the best in your campaign to help oink, the real animals are the vicious thugs who have tried to harm him, let's hope they are caught soon”
- Colin

“just read about this on the guardian. made me laugh - cute :D we want webcam!”
- b harris

“Hi, Heard your story about Oink on Radio 2 this morning. Where is he I'd like to take a look at him and take some photos - from the other side of the fence! ...Great news story - I think kids will warm to him now he's a celebrity.”
- Trevor

“Hi there, So glad to hear that there are other animal lovers out there. Have made a donation and good luck with finding the b******s who are doing this to Oink!”
- Carole

“When i first scrolled through Sky News and came across this story my heart missed a beat. Firstly i think Katherine Moore has and is doing a sterling job and whole hearted helping and caring for Oink, without her rescue this lovely animal (Rare for Derbyshire i have to say) wouldnt be making the tabloids today!!!! Also the fact the local community need praise as well for the protection and the interest they are imputting into this, such as the CCTV and getting a buget raised for other developments such as new fencing and shelter for Oink. Final note ................... The people who have the nerve to attack or abuse a RARE animal such as Oink, obviously dont have a life and are extremely SAD, or i think possibly have a mental problem which they need to sort out and quick, because wouldnt i love to see Oink get his own back on the little Brats that are causing this grief!!! GET A GRIP ...............”
- Hazel

“I saw the article on the Sky news website this morning and made a donation straight away! You are doing a wonderful thing for Oink and I wish you all the very best! I hope you get a lot of donations and help and if I ever am in the region I would love to stop by and see Oink! I have saved the website as a favourite and signed up for the alerts from Google so I will keep updated on his progress and hopefully in the future I will be able to help again in some way. You are very good people! Keep up the good work!”
- Jaimie

“oink.... we all love you to pieces xx”
- Penny

“We bumped into Oink on a visit to my brothers who lives in Darley Abbey, my kids loved him.”
- The Hicklins from Oldham.

“read about him in the Mail today. Furious that someone could do this to him. I am a nurse but have to admit I sometimes prefer animals to people - particularly plastic surgeons!!!!!!!! Have sent a small donation and will watch his progress. Will urge all my animal-loving friends to support the Facebook group. Give him a big kiss from me and thanks for looking after him and for taking the time to reply to my e mail. ”
- Sue

“I have just been reading the story on Oink, how could those terrible yobs do such a cruel thing to such a beautiful animal...it is disgraceful. Perhaps we should find a field with an electric fence around, put the yobs inside it, throw bricks at them and put mustard in their food.....Oh no I forgot, we can't do that as it would classed as abuse!!! Hope Oink soon gets over his fears and is able to run around his field again soon.Sincere thanks to the gentleman who has supplied the Camera. Good Luck Oink...may you run freely”
- Hilary

“I love Oink”
- Sophie

“Poor Oink hope he is ok, those yobbos should be locked up, no respect for man or beast, take care oink, love jue xxx”
- Julie

“I hope Oink has a better life now and he gets the peace and quiet he deserves and whoever is responsible for the maltreatment has the punishment they so deserve.”
- Sue

“I heard about Oink on the Sarah Kennedy early morning show on my way to work and was annoyed and upset to hear about some ”
- Ken

“We Love You OINK ..x For Ever And Ever Your A Great Buffolow!!!:)=] I Hope Thosee CCTV Cameras Help!! You Might Remember Us We Visited Your Ass A Few Times nd We L0ve YOU ..x”
- Gina And Loz

“It would be nice if the ...er...'persons' who made Oink's life a misery and have read all that has been written(assuming they can read?) came forward, apologised, and offered to help in any way they can to make amends!! I can dream can't I!!!”
- Audrey

“Hello Oink and family! I just wanted to show my disgust at the treatment of this poor innocent animal. I could barely read what those ‘human beings’ had done to him, and it breaks my heart to think of him being frightened and in any pain. I have donated what I could, and I wish I could help more. Being quite far away (in Lancashire), I really wish there was more I could do. I cannot understand how anybody could harm any creature. It is beyond me. I can truly say that I am shocked beyond belief, the cowardice and evil these thugs have shown. I hope that he hasn’t been too severely affected; I know that you say that the support received has reaffirmed your trust in humanity; I hope that in time Oink has less fear and more trust of humans again. I sincerely hope that the culprits are caught and dealt with justly, and not let off the hook as seems to happen far too often these days. I hope that enough support is rallied so that you can give Oink the vandal, stress free life that he deserve”
- Rebecca

“I'm a teenager and I like to visit Oink. Poor buffallo!”
- Jon

“It's fantastic to see all these people supporting him. He really has become quite a celebrity not just in the UK but around the world too. It is truly heart warming to read some of the messages of support for Oink. I feel very proud of the fact he's from my home county.( And no doubt a DCFC fan) hehe hehe !! Those people that were out to hurt him should be found and prosecuted, it's beyond me how anyone could harm such a lovely animal. I wasn't aware of the efforts to raise money for the new fencing until I found the website. rest assured, I'll be sending a cheque this week to assist you with your efforts. Best Regards, Rob, Allestree, Ps : By the way, what's his favourite food….I take him cucumber, broccoli and carrots, but I've read somewhere that he likes current buns and malt loaf.”
- Rob

“When my boyfriend lived in Derby we used to vist Oink nearly every other weekend, with little treats for him and we often talk about and miss him vey much now that we live in London. I\'m so sad that anyone could hurt him and be so cruel. Poor Oink. ”
- Jenni

“My parents and myself went to visit Oink after hearing about him on radio/tv. He enjoyed the brocolli we brought him. Lovely to see all the people that went to see him and to read messages left on here. Will be back again to visit him with more treats. ”
- The Fox's

“oinky! when I used to live in derby I used to visit oinky and give him cakes. he loves battenburg the most...try it, he probably misses them. he can eat a whole battenburg in one go. he also likes doughnuts. no lemon drizzle cake though as he doesn\'t like it. and no cheap stuff. the fact that people are abusing him is very disturbing and it amazes me that people need to be mean to defenceless animals to make them feel better about themselves...oinky eating cakes is not cruel as he will only eat them if he likes them, if he didnt like them he wouldnt eat them, like lemon drizzle cake.”
- Stuart

“Hopefully with such nice people looking after Oink he'll be OK now. If the cowardly thugs do get caught just send them here - we'll give them a South London welcome they won't forget...”
- Rosie
